      BANGALORE CYBER SECURITY SUMMIT 2009

In today's dynamic networked environment many enterprises, both public & private including e- governance initiatives of Government have been confronted with a myriad of security issues. This coupled with the complexity of the evolving technological landscape has created almost insurmountable problems. Similar threats to national security from cyber terrorists have thrown up various challenges to the safety and security of the nation and its assets.

Given this background, Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka has taken the lead by organizing a National Level Conference “BANGALORE CYBER SECURITY SUMMIT 2009” on 8th & 9th of October 2009, at Convention Centre , NIMHANS, Hosur Road, Bangalore, bringing together members from the Prosecution, Industry and other stake holders under one platform to address the challenges facing the nation. This is the first of its kind event organized by a Government.

Eminent speakers and panelists who are undisputed experts from the Industry, Government, Academia, Cyber Law professions spoke on topics such as :

• “Information Technology Act 2008 – Law Enforcement and Incidence response-The way    forward”

• “Security in Critical Infrastructure Resources – current and emerging trends”

• “Cyber Law Compliance – The Burning Issue”

There were 11 speaker sessions and 3 Panel Discussions comprising of 38 Speakers/Panelists, 22 of whom had come from places such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. 16 speakers representing organizations such as Cyber Law College, NASSCOM, HP, Infosys, Wipro, National Law College, CISCO, IISc., Karnataka Police, State Govt were from Bangalore.
